And the center of the

world is Harlem-town.

And the center of

Harlem is Lenox Ave!

Welcome to the 1920s, where the Renaissance is upon us. Music, dance, fashion, literature, and the extraordinary Black artists who create them fill Harlem's secret nightclubs. You've found us. Welcome to Lenox Ave.

After making a reservation to this immersive night of entertainment, guests received an email with instructions on how to find the speakeasy (shhh! don't share the password). Lots of us dressed up, ready for a night on the town. There was a bar with specialty cocktails and live jazz music greeted us from a sweeping balcony entrance to the club. At show time, the band, singing, and dance transported us to a world where famed author Langston Hughes was a staple in Harlem’s nightclubs.

Step away from Prohibition.
Come release your inhibitions.

Have a drink and stay awhile.
Dance. Laugh. Wink. Smile.

Jazz band, jazz band, play play play.
Dancers, swing the night away.

Choose a date, reserve your place.
Join us in a special space.

Lenox Ave is where it's at,
Put on that dress. Grab a hat.

Here's your chance to sneak away.
Come and see us, play play play.

Thanks for joining us, down on Lenox Ave. We’ve closed up shop for now but hope to see you soon.

Reservations were taken in advance, $25.

When you’re in a speakeasy like Lenox Ave, you get close to the performers and the other guests. We want all of our guests to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If that’s not you, well then, you can spend the night elsewhere.

I, too, sing America.

I am the darker brother.
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes,
But I laugh,
And eat well,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the table
When company comes.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
“Eat in the kitchen,”
Then.

Besides,
They’ll see how beautiful I am
And be ashamed—

I, too, am America.
— Langston Hughes
