Renaissance Theatre Company

A new non-profit theatre company dedicated to creating and developing original theatrical experiences in Orlando and beyond, with intentional focus on fair pay for artists, highlighting diverse perspectives, environmental sustainability, and creating Theatre in new and innovative ways.

We incorporated on February 18, 2021, and our first production together, Oscar Wilde and Jesus Christ Walk Into a Gay Bar, premiered at the Orlando Fringe Festival in May 2021.

Next, we surprised our local theatre friends by announcing that we’d acquired a new space, a two-story warehouse at Princeton St & McRae Ave, and opening the first version of our original vampire experience Nosferatu in October 2021, exactly three weeks after closing on the building. Our friends call it “the Ren.”

Since then, we’ve been going fast, making lots of new art, and creating lots of new jobs. We opened more original shows, helped our friends find space, and produced a strong slate of weekly events celebrating worthwhile communities.

Check out our Shows page to see a list we’re very proud of.

A cute photo from our first show at Fringe in 2021. That was at the Shakes, so, not our theatre though :)

Okay this is us. For Lenox Ave, we just removed the wall at the top of this photo, leaving the old studs. Perks of having your own space!

Our staff: Renaissance Theatre Company has paid hundreds of artists so far. It’s one of our rules. (The always paying people thing.) For the latest look at who’s making art at the Ren, check out a program to one of our shows. Here’s the last super big one, for The Office Holiday Party Musical Extravaganza Show. Here’s a more recent one, for Qualia.
