Jobs! 👩‍🏭🧑🏽‍🔧👨🏿‍🎨👷🏼👩‍🎤

Come join the Boat Team. We built a freaking boat. Now we are building different things which are a secret.

But also we’re building a new kind of theatre company for Orlando. We’re hiring hourly employees for set construction, manual labor, and a variety of theatre tech positions. Email Donald Rupe at rupedon@gmail.com with your resume to apply.

^ ignore the old info on this graphic btw, new details below. It’s just too pretty to delete, and it was one of the first graphics Landon made for us in 2021 🥹

We’re especially looking to expand our pool of scenic workers, including for carpentry and manual labor. Here’s more about that:

  • Duties include heavy lifting, using power tools, painting, cleaning, delivering and picking up furniture, lumber, and other supplies, and all the other jobs that go into building a set and fixing up a cool old warehouse.
  • Everyone’s safety comes first. We will get you anything you need to keep yourself safe, like appropriate tools or safety gear, as well as expertise and assistance from others.
  • These usually start out as “seasonal” positions, oriented around an upcoming show (or more than one if we get into some weird planning mood). But any job can evolve into a longer-term role over time. Almost all our current regular staffers created their jobs this way.
  • While experience is a perk, we are willing to train people who have a willingness to grow.
  • $15/hour, $16/hour, now $17/hour, up to 40 hours a week. (new year, new minimum wage!)
  • You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or up-to-date with an alternative CDC-recommended preventive medicine if you’re ineligible for the miracle vaccines.
  • Most people are hired as normal employees, where we handle your taxes, and provide workers’ comp insurance; or if you are truly a separate company, we can set up a 1099 independent contractor agreement and you’ll have to handle all that yourself. You’ll be paid on Renaissance’s normal payroll schedule, which is every two weeks.

(Our payroll works like a lot of normal jobs; the pay periods are two calendar weeks long. Ours are Sunday-to-Sunday-to-Sunday. After each two-week period ends, we add up your hours and process everything, and you get a direct deposit on Friday Wednesday. (New year, faster pay! You can also do Cash App and get your pay an extra day faster, typically Tuesday.) For example, a previous pay period started Sunday, Nov. 7, lasted two weeks, and pay for those hours went out on Friday, Nov. 26 Wednesday, Nov. 24.)
