A Note from Donald Rupe
Co-Founder of Renaissance Theatre Company
Welcome to the Renaissance! And welcome to Nosfera2!
Renaissance Theatre Company was founded in 2021 with a mission to create new and original Theatre in Central Florida and beyond. We are focused on fair pay for artists, sustainability, supporting creators/playwrights with diverse voices, and we also want to grow a new audience for live Theatre in Orlando. Last September, board member Chris Kampmeier purchased 415 East Princeton Street as a home for us, and we’ve already produced eight wonderful and successful productions in our first year: Nosferatu, The Office Holiday Party Musical Extravaganza Show, La Medéa, Gorgeous, Oscar Wilde and Jesus Christ Walk Into a Gay Bar, Ain’t Done Bad, From Here, and Lenox Ave. We’re so excited to bring Nosfera2 back this year.
If you're the type who likes to support Non-profit organizations, I hope you’ll consider supporting us. We just recently hosted our annual fundraiser, and in our very first year we raised just under $150,000 from over 500 donors. We’ll be re-vamping our fundraising site soon, but you can still donate at rentheatre.com/giveusmoney to help us beat that number in year two!
Take care, y’all, and I hope you enjoy Nosfera2!

Meet the Cast
Blake Aburn is so bloody aroused to be back with his vampire coven at the only theater in Orlando producing year round original works. He was last seen as Daniel, a role he created and won countless awards for, in the concert version of From Here. You may remember him from the previous Nosferatu or numerous other productions from the first season at the Ren. Blake is also the host/curator of Musical Mondays, a weekly musical theater open mic that features performers and shows happening all over Orlando. Doors open at 7:30pm and the show starts around 8:15pm or whenever Blake wants to start. Blake also receives his health insurance from the Ren and is required to work 25 hrs a week, so he designed and (mostly) built the Honeymoon Suite this year. Outside of the Ren, you can also catch him swimming with the sharks in Finding Nemo: The Big Blue and Beyond at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
Blake would like to thank his gays and gals for their endless support and of course his loves, Dev and the kitties.
J.Marie Bailey is honoured to return to her role in Nosferatu. Blake Aburn (Scenic Designer) is in the performer section :)
Joey Coombs (Scenic Designer) is a scenic artist and designer based in Orlando. Originally from Ocala, he has lived in Orlando for the last two years, and has been working for the Ren for one. Designing two rooms (the Church and V Bar) and painting five (the Church, V Bar, Circus, Morgue, and Cage Room) has been the most challenging and rewarding experience of his career, and is a feat he could not have accomplished without his painting team: the “Legion of Lesbians” as monikered by Donald. He is also thankful to the Ren staff, design team, and build crew for bearing with his chaotic routine, working around his messy paint supplies left everywhere, and in general for dealing with him being “too much”; but is especially thankful for all of their hard work and for making this iteration of Nosferatu and all of its spectacle possible. Previous paint charge credits include Beauty and the Beast at the Garden Theater and Indecent at the University of Central Florida. Joey has painted for all shows at the Ren (except for last year’s Nosferatu), most notably the lobby for Gorgeous, the mural in From Here, and the mural and turntable in Lenox Ave. He has also helped create the photo op sets for our weekly drag show, Off the Record, highlights of which include Femmebot Fatale, Planet OTR (just the lights), Sweetener, and Renaissance at the Renaissance. Bailey), including: Bright Young Things; From Here (fromhere.com); Flying Lessons (featured in the New York Musical Festival in 2019); Oscar Wilde and Jesus Christ Walk into a Gay Bar; Once I Laughed; Lenox Ave. and others. Donald was also the founder of a community theatre program for Central Florida Community Arts, where for five years he ran a traditional season of productions with much success. Donald's numerous directing credits span the better part of twenty years and many wonderful companies throughout Central Florida. Rupe was also an accomplished educator, having served on the part-time faculty of Valencia College for over a decade and as an award-winning high school educator. Donald received his degrees in Theatre from New York University and Florida State University.
Kathleen Wessel is a movement artist, choreographer, director, and educator from Orlando, Florida. She holds an MFA in Dance Performance and Choreography from Florida State University and a BA in Psychology from Emory University. In 2007, she co-founded the Atlanta-based Staibdance and danced with the company for a decade. In addition, she served as the company's Managing Director and co-created the Staibdance Summer Intensive in Sorrento, Italy. Kathleen has performed and taught throughout the American Southeast, Las Vegas, New York, Italy, and Sweden, and her movement studies have taken her to The Place in London, the Suzanne Dellal Centre for Dance and Theater in Tel Aviv, and the B12 festival in Berlin most recently.
Currently, Kathleen is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Dance Performance and Choreography at Spelman College where she teaches dance writing, theory, composition, and technique courses; she is also Director of Spelman Dance Theater and curates the department’s master class series Studio Sessions. The production received an Honorable Mention for Outstanding Public History Project from the National Council on Public History in 2020. Most recently, Kathleen received two “Best of Theater: Choreography” awards from the Orlando Sentinel: in 2020 for the immersive walking play Bright Young Things produced by Creative City Projects and in 2021 for Nosferatu produced by the Renaissance Theater Company.

His weirdly applicable experience being an on-call “site reliability engineer” for internet things is one of the many secret weapons of Nosferatu’s show control. Welcome to the Ren!
Jacob Lawhon (Stage Manager) Jacob is thrilled to be back working with the Renaissance Theatre Company. Previous productions include: From Here, Gorgeous, The Office Holiday Party Extravaganza Show, Oscar Wilde and Jesus Christ Walk Into a Gay Bar, Nosferatu, Bright Young Things, and Flying Lessons. His non-theatrical lighting projects can be seen in television stations from Palm Beach to Las Vegas. He could not be more excited to be working with Renaissance to bring this exciting work to Central Florida audiences. Get in touch at www.philiplupo.com.
Stephen Jones (Sound Designer) is a recent transplant to Orlando, having recently moved from Little Rock, Arkansas. There, he worked for four years at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre as a company actor, sound engineer/designer, and teaching artist. Stephen has also been known to moonlight as a film, television, and theatre critic.
