Doña Medéa is hidden away from the counter of El Botánico de Medéa, her Dominican Vudú shop. Her husband Jason has abandoned her, and her constant wailing pierces the walls. Assisted by her “Greek Chorus” of shopkeepers and a dwindling succession of customers, Medéa weighs a supernatural retribution for Jason’s betrayal and must decide what she has left to lose.
This new, intimate adaptation fuses vibrant Latinx culture with the timeless story of Medea, featuring new original music developed in tandem with the show during the workshop and rehearsal process by Cesar De La Rosa. -
